The Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) established by an Act of Parliament in 1985 has continuously striven to build an inclusive knowledge society through inclusive education. The University provides opportunities to learners who have been unable to avail of formal education and also caters to working professionals who wish to upgrade their qualifications.
The IGNOU NTT program is designed for working professionals who wish to improve their teaching skills. The School of Education offers the program and covers various aspects of teaching, including classroom management curriculum development, and assessment. The program is delivered through a combination of online and face-to-face interactions.
The National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) formerly known as the National Open School (NOS) was established in November 1989 as an autonomous organization by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) Government of India. NIOS is providing a number of Vocational Life Enrichment and community-oriented courses besides General and Academic Courses at the Secondary and Senior Secondary levels. It also offers Elementary level Courses through its open basic education programs.
The National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) has been entrusted with the responsibility of implementing the scheme of National Teachers Training (NTT) through Open and Distance Learning (ODL) mode. The scheme is designed to prepare in-service untrained teachers working in primary/upper primary schools of different country states. The program is also open to fresh graduates who wish to make their career in teaching. The minimum qualification for admission to the program is a Graduation degree with a minimum of 50% marks from any recognized University.
