The candidates must have a bachelor's degree in Agriculture or a related field and an M.Sc degree in any discipline with at least 55% marks in aggregate, including the qualifying examination.

Minimum 50% marks will be required from candidates belonging to SC/ST/BC category apart from this requirement they must also fulfill the following conditions:

A minimum of 55% marks should be secured by them in their qualifying exam (or equivalent) conducted by the concerned university or institution on its behalf;

They must obtain at least 60 percent marks as per prescribed standards and are expected to pass out of Bachelors’ Degree Programme within two years after completion of graduation program and get admission into Master’s Degree Programme offered by that University /Institution;

Course duration: 3 years


Total number of credits: 24 credits (6 semesters)

Semester 1: Introduction to agricultural science, including plant and animal biology, genetics, genomics, and biotechnology; environmental sciences including abiotic factors affecting crop production; economics of agriculture.

Semester 2: Principles of soil ecology with special reference to agricultural productivity; aspects of soil fertility management through fertilizers & pesticides etc.; agronomy technology for optimal use of soil nutrients & water resources management using manure composting technology etc..


Fee Structure of Ph.D. in Agriculture Course

The fee structure of the Ph.D. in Agriculture course is as follows:

One-time fee - Rs. 50000/- (Non-Refundable)

Tuition fee - Rs. 900/- per month for 3 years or equivalent amount as per the host university's rules and regulations

Application fee for admission in the Ph.D. course: 1% of total tuition fees paid by students in advance to their respective colleges/universities if they are going abroad based on faculty recommendation; otherwise 5% of total tuition fees paid by students will be deducted from their demand draft drawn on any nationalized bank at the latest by 31st December every year before admission
