The National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) formerly known as the National Open School (NOS) was established in November 1989 as an autonomous organization in pursuance of the National Policy on Education 1986 by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) Government of India. NIOS is providing a number of Vocational Life Enrichment and community oriented courses besides General and Academic Courses at the Secondary and Senior Secondary levels. It also offers Elementary level Courses through its open basic education programs.


Ignou University NTT Admission is the process of getting into National Teachers Training universities in India. The admission process generally starts in the month of April and ends in the month of June. These universities offer various courses like B.Ed M.Ed D.Ed and other diploma and certificate courses related to teaching. Admission to these courses is done on the basis of marks scored on the entrance test conducted by the university.

The NIOS is an alternative to the conventional system of schooling and was set up with the objective of providing quality education at affordable costs. The NIOS offers a variety of programs ranging from school level to post-graduate level. The University Grants Commission (UGC) has recognized the NIOS as a Distance Education University. The NIOS offers admission to the Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed.) program twice a year in January and July. Admission to the D.El.Ed program is open to all Indian citizens who have completed Class 12 or its equivalent from a recognized board or university.
