The National Teachers Training (NTT) program is a one-year diploma course designed to prepare candidates for teaching in primary schools. The program is offered by the Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) and is recognized by the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE). Admission to the program is based on the candidate's performance in the entrance test conducted by IGNOU.
Candidates who have completed 10+2 or its equivalent from a recognized board with at least 50% marks are eligible to apply for the entrance test. Those who have cleared their B. Ed degree or are appearing in the final year of their B. Ed courses are also eligible to apply. The entrance test comprises two papers: Paper I is of general nature and aims to test the candidate's understanding of elementary-level subjects; Paper II is based on a specific subject chosen by the candidate and aims to test the candidate's subject knowledge.

The course is offered by the Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) through its Regional Centres located across the country. Admission to the IGNOU NTT Programme is open to all in-service teachers who possess a minimum of 50% marks at the bachelor's level. Candidates will be selected on the basis of their performance in a written entrance test which will be followed by an interview.

It was established by the Ministry of Human Resource Development of the Government of India in 1989. It offers Secondary and Senior Secondary level courses equivalent to CBSE and other state boards.
