Ingrained in 1926, IIT (ISM) Dhanbad is a public technical university, the third up in years institute after IIT Roorkee, and IIT BHU. The institute is situated in the mineral-rich region of India i.e., in the city of Dhanbad, Jharkhand. Due to its leading role in the mineral and mining sector exploration, By the Govt. of India. In 2023,the institute was granted autonomy in 1967, the NIRF ranked the institute with 17th spot in basically the Engineering sector.

IIT Dhanbadprovide admission to different range of courses in several UG and PG programs through a variety of national-level exams. Applicants must achieve a qualifying rank in JEE Advanced and then go through JoSAA counseling to be admitted to the IIT Dhanbad superliner B.Tech Program. Moreover, IIT Dhanbad provides admission to PG programs including M.Tech, M.Sc., MBA, EMBA, etc. Students must achieve valid scores on the national entrance tests, such as the IIT JAM, GATE, and CAT, followed by the PI round, to be admitted to these programs.

IIT Dhanbad admission 2024 is ongoing for the Executive MTech, MA, and PhD programs. The institute represent admission to its UG, PG, and doctoral programs through national-level entrance tests. For admission to its flagship program which is BTech, IIT Dhanbad considers the JEE Advanced scores followed by the JoSAA counselling. With the first-year fee of INR 2.4 Lakhs, the institute offers a total of 910 seats including all the categories of students. The overall cutoff for the IIT Dhanbad BTech program ranged from 3258 to 16151 ranks. 

IIT Dhanbad also provide MTech, MSc, and MBA programs at the PG level. For admission to these courses, GATE, IIT JAM, and CAT scores are taken into consideration. However, for the MA admission, the institute organize a written test and a personal interview representation for the final selection. Furthermore, IIT Dhanbad provide a PhD program in which the shortlisting criteria include an entrance exam and a PI round. Also, candidates are required to have valid scores in GATE/ CEED/ UGC/ CSIR to be eligible for this course.
